"We Are Not Alone"

“Well, we did have some success. We slowed the disease down and in some cases actually began to reverse the process. But as we witnessed time and time again, the medications had their limitations. It was the time to begin “thinking out of the box”!  I began to work with Oceanographers, some who had a refreshing approach to tackling the dreadful disease and so we began to throw around some interesting facts.
 “Salmon always return to lay their eggs and release their sperm at the very place where they were born! Sharks live very long lives, and have an uncanny ability to travel hundreds of miles, only to return to the exact location where they hunted down their last prey. Whales don’t ever lose their ability to communicate even though they live up to one hundred years. Dolphins are as bright or even more intelligent then some of the humans I know!” Dr. Price comically added, drawing laughter from his audience.
 “Well, after years and countless hours of research; after testing the potencies of the drugs on the mammalian whales and after injecting the solution into the brains of chimps, the FDA may soon be ready to approve it. It turns out that all along—the secret was stored in the fluid of the synapse within the neurons of those creatures that live in the waters that cover two thirds of the earth’s surface. It stops Alzheimer’s dead in its tracks. It breaks down the plaques. It stops the Tau molecules from tangling and although the microtubules that are already badly damaged die, those that have moderate damage regenerate. At this point in time it is the administration of the dose that requires more research. There may even be some human subjects that could die from too little too late or too much too soon, but we are getting much closer everyday!
